Jim Gould named Star Ambassador Jim Gould of Plainview received the Star Ambassador Award for his dedication and support of the Plainview Farmers Market this season. Gould attended the market each week and made it a point to visit with all the vendors and the customers making everyone feel special. Because of the goodwill that he brought to the market every week, he was recognized with this award.

Pirates win NSAA recognition The Nebraska School Activities Association released its first season's "Believers and Achievers" student awardees, including three youth from Plainview Public Schools. Seniors Riley Kaup, Colton Choat, and Brooklyn Kumm were named to the NSAA program this first release. Students are required to be a part of an NSAA activity or athletic event, be involved in their local school and community and complete a citizenship essay to complete their application. Local schools nominate eligible students. Only 48 seniors will be selected statewide for the 2020-21 school year.

Fire week noted at Zion... On Wednesday, students at Zion Lutheran School in grades Preschool through Second grade were visited by firefighter Brian Bowman. He showed them his truck and explained fire safety and equipment firefighters use to help keep the community safe. Students are taught by Cindy Meyer and Krista Masat. Venteicher wins Caring Kind Award for 2020 Kaylyn Venteicher, CHI Health Plainview, was recently awarded as the organization's 2020 Caring Kind recipient. For near 40 years, "The Caring Kind" award has been given to Nebraska's most caring and compassionate hospital employees. The award honors outstanding health care employees who have demonstrated compassion for patients, cooperation with co-workers, and dedication to excellence in their job responsibilities.

Williams New Arrival Seth and Jocelyn Williams are parents to a new son, Wiley Dale Anson Williams, born on September 4, 2020 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. He was born at 9:45 a.m., weighing 8 pounds,13.5 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. He was welcomed homed by two sisters, Quinn and Reece. Grandparents are Les and Jill Anson of Brunswick and Scott and Dawn Williams of Plainview. Great-grandparents are Lumer "John" and Glee Bartak of Plainview, the late Darrell and Iona Anson of Brunswick, Kenneth and Darlene Stelling of Plainview and Norma and the late L.D. "Mugg" Williams of Mooresville, Indiana.
