Council to discuss water rate increase

Homecoming Royalty runs in the family
For one Plainview family, being crowned Homecoming Queen runs in the family. Delores Christiansen-Horst was crowned Plainview Public School's Homecoming Queen in 1952. In 2001, one of Horst's granddaughter's was crowned Homecoming Queen. In 2020, Horst's other granddaughter was crowned Homecoming Queen. Garret and Camille Holland of San Antonio, Texas, are the parents of a new son, Graham Sterling, born October 3, 2020.
He was born at 6:17 p.m., weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz. and was 21" long.
Grandparents are Kent and Denise Friedrich of Norfolk; Mark and Wendy Holland of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Doug and Debbie Ertz of Alamo, Calif.
Great-grandparents are Dennis and Delores Hoffman and Ila Friedrich, all of Plainview; Peggy Newman of San Antonio, Texas and Pat Holland of Scottsdale, Ariz.
New Arrivals: Stech
Aaron and Markie Stech of Plainview have announced the birth of a new son, Ryker Kale, born to them on October 27, 2020 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
He weighed 8 lbs., 12 oz., was 21.5 inches long, and was welcomed home by two-year-old twin brothers, Rexin and Riggs.
Grandparents are Ronnie and Lynn Christiansen, and the late Lisa Christiansen, of Plainview, and Ronald and Terri Stech of Osmond. Great-grandparents are Edwin and Joy Christiansen; Sandra Cumming, and the late James Cumming; and Gerald Hoffart and the late Shirley Hoffart, all of Plainview; and the late Edwin and Bernadine Stech and Dwain and Evaline Hoeppner, all of Osmond.
Official results show large voter turnout
With 4,046 total votes cast in the 2020 election, Pierce County Clerk Shannon Wragge released 'official' totals that had been certified by the canvassing board for all local votes. The official election results can be found on the front page of the Plainview News, available now.
Eichberger confirmed
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Plainview held its confirmation on October 25, with one youth honored during the service.
Kaiden Richard Eichberger, son of Roger and Stephanie Eichberger of Plainview, received confirmation with Pastor Donna Fonner.
His sponsors were Mike and Lisa Ross of Pierce and Eric and Tammy Newland of New Braunfels, Texas.
Eichberger’s family attended the service, and dinner followed at Mary’s Restaurant.
Special guests were his siblings: Kaleb, Karissa and Keaton; and his grandparents, Evelyn Eichberger and Richard and Cheryln Hillrichs, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Accident claims life of alum, Husker

Two standout wrestlers, one from UNL and the other from Iowa Western, died in a fiery crash early Thursday in central Lincoln.

Plainview Monument helps repair Grand Republic Statue
On July 7th, Oakdale Cemetery President Gene Kinnan was made aware of the Grand Army of the Republic statue no longer standing in the cemetery. Zoning Board hears TC Energy changes for special use permit
The Plainview Zoning Board met for their regular meeting on October 26th. While there were no building permits up for consideration, the board did hold a public hearing for TC Energy for an adjustment to their special use permit. Halloween came and went with a large crowd of youngsters and not-so-youngsters parading at the Plainview Manor, Plainview Schools and then visiting downtown businesses to “trick or treat” on Friday, prior to Saturday’s main evening event around town. Costumed youth and young-at-heart numbered near 200 in downtown Plainview on Friday, a larger crowd drawn by the unusually warm October 30th weather.
