Terry Makelin has made his arrival to the area as the new Pastor for the Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster, as well as the Golgotha Lutheran Church in Wausa.
15 years ago, Makelin was invested in one of his many careers prior to ministry. He had worked at a steel mill, dabbled in insurance, and was even involved in the safety of h a z a r d o u s waste security at a hospital in Norfolk.
The brand new Plainview Pirate Marching band put their skills from band camp to work this past Monday, marching
down the main road at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island. This year the band boasts about 30 members,
and is again under the direction of instructor Wynter Fulsaas.
Members of the Pierce County Shooting Sports (PCSS) 4-H club delivered outstanding performances in the American Legion postal match held last January, earning the top spot as the best sporter team in Nebraska.
The team, consisting of Sara Thomsen, Cayden Holan, Brandon Thomsen, Konnar Jones,
and Keegan Holan, showcased remarkable skill and teamwork throughout the competition.
The Plainview FCCLA Chapter held their annual kick-off on August 15th at 6:00 p.m. with this year’s theme “If You Feel It Chase It”.

Multiple Plainview golfers represented the Plainview Country Club at the annual North Four Tee tournament on Saturday, Aug. 10. In the tournament, golfers from Plainview faced off against competitors from Atkinson, Summerland, and Battle Creek.
“Nebraska HS Football” has just released its
preseason top ten rankings for all NSAA classifications
for the 2024 NSAA High School Football
season, and among the top 10 in Class D-1 were the
Plainview Pirates, who enter the 2024 season as
the number six team in class D-1.
A Plainview couple, Danielle and John Steinkraus, is putting the finishing touches on what’s soon-to-be the newest locally owned business in town, the 3 Brother’s Car Wash. The car wash is named after the couple's three children.

The Plainview Park Board – Lyn Stec,
Brandi Alexander & Amy Dummer – promoted the upgrade, and commissioned the removal of dead trees, replacement
of flowerbeds and new concrete, along with the new bench.

Blake Foster entered the Pierce County Fair on Wednesday, July 24 as a competitor, but left on Sunday, July 28 as a champion. Foster is a 15-year-old soon-to-be sophomore at Plainview High School, but already has enough experience competing to be classified as a veteran in the world of 4-H.

The son of a PHS alumni has been selected as current Vice-President and Democratic Presidential candidate, Kamala Harris' running mate for the 2024 U.S. Presidential election. Tim Walz, son of James (Jim) Walz a 1947 graduate of PHS, was selected by Harris on Tuesday to be her running mate.

Rachel Harder, 14 of Plainview, was a double champion at the Fonner Park State 4-H Horse Expo in Grand Island, with there being 239 exhibitors, 351 horses, and 1306 entries representing over 45 Nebraska counties. This year's Forever Pirates golf scramble at the Plainview Country Club will tee off this weekend for a day of activities on Sat., Aug. 3. Organizers report that 30 teams have registered for the scramble, which has 18 rounds of golf, lunch and dinner, and a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
Congratulations to Alisa and Tyler Wattier for their wedding on June 15! Alisa Wattier (daughter of Dan and Carol Koithan) is a nurse in Dakota Dunes, SD, and Tyler (son of Val and Rob Hoffman of Plainview) is the owner of Tyler Wattier Construction. History Nebraska announced this week that the Neligh Carnegie Library, located in Neligh, has been listed in the National Register of Historical Places. The Neligh Carnegie Library was listed on June 26.
