Kaintrel and Cherise Unger of Bennington, are new parents of twins: Zedekai Linx (left) and Laiklyn Elle (right), born September 3, 2020. Zedekai Linx was born at 1:17 p.m weighed 6 lbs., 9 oz. and was 191/2 inches long. Laiklyn Elle was born at 1:19 p.m., weighed 5 lbs., 2 oz. and was 181/2 inches long. Grandparents are Kent and Denise Friedrich of Norfolk, and Dave and Mary Unger of Norfolk and Sherry Unger and Richard Jurgens of Madison. Great-grandparents are Dennis and Delores Hoffman and Ila Friedrich, all of Plainview.

Alt new State Farm agent At the end of June, long-time Plainview State Farm Agent, Bob Arlt, announced his retirement. Prior to his retirement, State Farm approached Annette Alt, who has been a State Farm Agent for 10 and a half years, and her husband, Andy, to expand their territory to serve the Plainview area. Plainview Manor residents back home after COVID outbreak The Plainview Whispering Pines Assisted Living has 10 residents living in the facility. On September 8, one of the resident's tested positive for the Coronavirus. Since testing positive, the resident has been moved from their room and is no longer in the facility. The other residents are remaining in isolation and were tested for the virus with the results coming back negative. Council approves budget for 2020-2021 fiscal year City council members approved the city budget and tax request for the 2020-2021 fiscal year during their meeting on September 14th at 6:30 p.m. at the city library. The council also approved two other pieces of business, the first being a wage increase for Interim Police Chief Jerry Newumann for his additional responsibilities, and the hiring of a maintenance worker for the city. New Arrivals: Woita Eric and Katie (Goetzinger) Woita of Plainview are parents to a new son, Holt James, born on July 24, 2020 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. He was born at 3:48 p.m., weighed 8 lbs., 4 oz. and was welcomed home by Kerrigan, 1. Grandparents are Chad and LaNette Goetzinger of Plainview and Jan, and the late Gary Woita of Atkinson. Nelson retires from Air Force after 20 years of service Jarrod Nelson graduated from Plainview Public Schools in May of 2000. During spring semester of his senior year, Nelson enlisted in the Military in February and left for basic training in August. 1982 X-c record broken The Plainview Pirate Cross Country team took to the field for their first events of the season last week with great success. One of the major highlights for the runners was the breaking of a school record that has stood since 1982, which was broken by Jordan Mosel at the Niobrara-Verdigre meet, with his run of 17:59 in the 5k race.
